We got a call about a nicely-made but very-aged steel security door. As you can see from the before picture, the bottom section of the frame had completely rusted through and would need to be replaced:
The first order of business was cutting out the rusted section so a new frame piece could be fabricated and welded in to place.
Once the replacement part was cut to size, welding it in to place was a little tricky. Because the cover for the frame was so thin, anything more than a low powered welding arc could melt straight through the metal.
From there, a quick coat of protective paint and it is as good as new!
